INVISALIGN

What is Invisalign and how does it differ from other brands of aligners?

If you are a patient looking for an alternative to traditional braces, Invisalign clear aligners is the best option for your treatment. Invisalign is a cosmetic system for orthodontic treatment for just about any patient who would be a candidate for treatment with metal braces. In fact, anyone who has heard that only simple cases can be treated with Invisalign may not be getting advice from an orthodontic specialist with experience using Invisalign. The main difference between Invisalign and newer brands of clear aligners is that Align

Technology has had the market share to accumulate experience and carries a much larger research and development budget than any other aligner companies. What this means to you is better technology, better materials and proven systems for aligner therapy. LOA Orthodontics is one of the largest Invisalign providers in the country and as such, we have experience with all case types. We can provide for you the #LOAinvislignsmile you’ve always wanted!
Getting Started with Invisalign

What about other brands?

Most aligner companies are copycat systems which seek to offer aligner therapy at a lower cost to the provider. As such, for most case types, they simply do not work as well as Invisalign does. Since LOA Orthodontics always offers the best of materials and technology to our patients, you can rest assured that we will source the best aligner company to help carry out your treatment needs.

Scanning Technology

How about do-it-yourself aligners?

What some companies attempt to do is reduce treatment down to only basic movements and have patients take their own molds and selfies to substitute for diagnostic records. While some DIY projects are possible to execute well, such as painting a wall or changing out an appliance, moving your own teeth from one position to another is not advisable. Why? The bone and gums that support your teeth do not regenerate when violated by an incorrect tooth movement. That can lead to the need for expensive (and sometimes uncomfortable) periodontal (gum specialist) work. The TMJ (jaw joint) can also be affected by how your teeth fit together. DIY companies cannot adequately assess a patients’ TMJ status since they do not perform a clinical examination or take x-rays.

While it may seem like this is not a big deal, or perhaps worth the apparent savings in treatment cost, it is wise to keep in mind that there is a good reason orthodontists attend 4 years of dental school, followed by 3 years of residency. Moving teeth to look good and function well, while respecting a patient’s individual biology is not as easy as it may seem.
